Flow Paint Recipes

Basic Recipe:

You can see my how-to-mix video here ~ https://youtu.be/grk5dLWA1UA

• 1 part Golden GAC 800 ~ http://amzn.to/2tSkEFq

• 1 part WELL-SHAKEN Flood Floetrol ~ http://amzn.to/2hns5U5    (tho it’s cheaper at stores that sell house paint, if you can find it)

• 1 part of the following types of paints

~ Liquitex Basics Acrylics ~ http://amzn.to/2vhQ7p8

~ Liquitex Soft Body Acrylics ~ http://amzn.to/2w5DH17

~ Jacquard Lumierre Acrylic Paint ~ http://amzn.to/2vVVOqo

~ I don’t like the way Heavy Body Acrylics (Golden or Liquitex) work for flow painting

~ I haven’t tried Golden Open Acrylics yet

• shake or stir well

I mix these up in huge batches becuz Ball jars seal up almost air tight ~ in the past I’ve been able to keep paint in them for well over a year.

This recipe is almost always the right consistency so I don’t include water.

I also don’t put silicone in the mix because it breaks the mix down over time.

Fluid Acrylic Recipe:

• 10 parts Golden GAC 800 ~ http://amzn.to/2tSkEFq

• 1 part Golden Fluid Acrylics ~ http://amzn.to/2f7ezmv

• stir well

I currently mix this in small batches.

High Flow Acrylic Recipe:

• 15 parts Golden GAC 800 ~ http://amzn.to/2tSkEFq

• Golden High-Flow Acrylics ~ http://amzn.to/2uYOrhT

• stir well

I currently mix this in small batches.

Primary Elements Recipe:

• mix ColourArte Primary Elements ~ http://amzn.to/2xnfSEU

with 1 part Vivid Clear Medium (https://goo.gl/omtACy)  to reach desired color intensity

• add pouring medium made up of

~ 1 part Golden GAC 800 ~ http://amzn.to/2tSkEFq

~ 1 part Liquitex Pouring Medium ~ http://amzn.to/2vcLVq1

• water to get to right consistency

This works with Primary Elements and Pearl Ex powders. While it’s my experience that Primary Elements are more vivid so less is required, this recipe should work with all pigment & mica powders that do NOT already contain binders (like Perfect Pearls).

Acrylic Ink Recipe:

• Liquitex Pouring Medium ~ http://amzn.to/2vcLVq1

• enough acrylic ink until it looks like I think it should

~ Liquitex Acrylic Inks ~ http://amzn.to/2vtivoF

~ Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic Inks ~ http://amzn.to/2hnhHLU

~ I haven’t tried the Speedball or the Dr. Ph. Martins acrylic inks

Other Goodies I use a Lot:

• Citra Solv Cleaner & Degreaser ~ http://amzn.to/2vN9Yg0

• 10ml Syringes with 15ga needles ~ http://amzn.to/2vMauZu

• Fineline caps with 20ga tips ~ http://amzn.to/2w48wp1
